Converting EXS24 to Garageband

Yes, it can be done!

Logic and Garageband essentially deal with samples the same way, and you just have to do a few tweaks to allow your .exs files to show up in Garageband.

Here’s how, in simple steps:

1) Find the sample in Logic that you would like to convert. I’ll use my own sample “Retro Wurli”.

Notice that every EXS24 file contains 2 parts: the INSTRUMENT FILE (”Retro Wurli.exs) and the SAMPLE FOLDER (”Retro Wurli WAVS”).

2) Place the INSTRUMENT FILE on:

(your hard drive)/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Instruments folder

Place the SAMPLE FOLDER on:

(your hard drive)/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files
